Description: A deciduous, very hardy fern that grows in clumps with fronds that often arch out over 2 feet. The leaflets on sterile fronds are not cut to the vein and have a brown woolly tuft below the base. Fertile fronds hold masses of spore cases which turn brown. It grows in wet woods, marshes and swamps in light shade. Propagate by spores or division.
