Ostrich Fern

Common Name: Ostrich Fern

Description: This hardy, deciduous type fern is a good foundation plant within a planting. The vase-like clump holds sterile plumelike fronds that are widest above mid-point and deeply lobed leaflets. Harder fertile fronds are shorter, brown and erect in winter. It grows in light shade along streambanks and in damp woods or swamps. Propagate by division.
