Common Name: Western Oak Fern

Family: Dryopteridaceae

Description: This is one of the loveliest deciduous ferns in America. The delicate fronds are horizontal with a triangluar outine while the lower leaflets are triangular as well. The spore case clusters are round and minute. A hardy fern, it will grow in cool woods and rocky slopes but prefers acid soils. Propagate by division.
